Halloween is right around the corner and Americans are expected to spend $1.2 billion on costumes. You can splurge on a professionally-made costume, or you can throw something together last minute. Don’t be afraid to make your own.
Read on for five geeky tech costumes that anyone can manage!
iPhone
All you need to pull off this look is a black shirt, black pants, and a printer. Print out enlarged images of the basic iPhone apps and tape them to your shirt. Voila. You’re an iPhone.
404 Costume Not Found
This one might lead to a few blank stares but for the true tech nerds, it’s the zenith of minimalist chic. Just purchase a plain white tee and buy fabric transfer paper and you can iron the image directly onto your shirt. Bonus points if you wrap an ethernet cord around your head.
Steve Jobs
The legendary tech mogul was best known for his black turtleneck and jean outfits. Borrow a pair of wire rimmed glasses from a friend and carry around a few Apple devices and you’re all set.
Internet Explorer
Print out a large IE logo at Kinkos or Office Depot and wear it like a sandwich board around your neck. Keep the rest of your outfit to a minimum and you can perfectly embody the simple and outdated web browser.
Google Maps
Use tape or fabric transfers to denote streets on a plain gray t-shirt. Add a red hat or headband with a point of interest marker to denote a specific Google map location.
These costumes will run you anywhere between $0 and $30 depending on your current wardrobe. Comparatively though, these are cheap. Happy Halloween!
